Included below is the seventh issue of the cumulative corrigenda of the Howard and Moore Complete Checklist of the Birds of the World (3rd edition). For the first time we also make available, here only, a list of names newly coined since we sent the 3rd. edition of the book to the publishers in late 2002. This list should not be taken to imply that the Howard & Moore team has yet made aby judgement about how to treat these proposals. ECD 08.01.2008
This website is intended to permit the Howard & Moore Complete Checklist of Birds of the World to achieve three principal objectives.
- The highest possible level of accuracy in the dates and spellings of all names used through building a database that records checks to, and checks of the date of, original descriptions.
- To provide open access, on this site or elsewhere, to much of the forthcoming 4th. Edition.
- To contribute to the continued availability of the title as the team involved in generating this work evolves.
